In addition to providing funds for general operating expenses, grant monies and gifts from individuals are needed to underwrite special non-revenue-generating community building initiatives, such as project assessment, park design and development, Geographic Information System-based planning studies, after-school leadership programming, community garden stewardship, and green building subsidies.
