Commonweal Conservancy's work is designed to contribute tangible social, economic, and environmental value to central city neighborhoods and rapidly growing suburban communities.
Commonweal Conservancy's park-making
and resource protection activities include the acquisition,
conservation, and restoration of culturally, economically,
and environmentally significant property for use as:
• parks, playgrounds, community gardens,
plazas, and trails;
• critical wildlife habitat and open space; and
• cultural and historic interpretive sites.
In combination with its park-making and resource protection activities, Commonweal Conservancy acquires, restores, and secures land use development rights for the purpose of facilitating:
• new affordable housing, workforce housing, and other forms of mixed-income residential community development;
• new schools, libraries, and community centers;
• local-serving employment and other economic development projects; and
• youth development and public transportation facilities. |
